It came to my attention today that the AdWords Tools are missing.
I know the Tools tab was removed from most accounts and replaced with the new Opportunities tab months ago. The tools were moved under the opportunities section but now they can not even be found there. No tools, period. While some tools are available externally such as the ad preview tool and the keyword estimator there are many other important tools that are only available within the Adwords accounts and not having them available poses some serious difficulties for advertisers trying to manage their accounts.
I spoke with a Google customer service rep today who confirmed that he too could not find the tools and he checked for any known issues. He could not find any on record and was going to take the issue to the technical department to inquire further. I will post what he shares with me when the info becomes available.
Until the issue is resolved, here is a link to the Tools page within Google’s help docs. I suggest that you log into your account before you use the tools.
UPDATE: I received a response from Google with the following details:
“It appears that our technical team has identified a technical issue affecting a limited number of accounts that are not able to see their tools in the Opportunities Tab. Our technical team is currently working diligently to find a resolution. [....] Our technical team hopes to have this issue resolves as soon as possible.”

Hi Kim,
I too had this problem a few days ago, but now everything seems to be ok.
Hi BizWriter,
Good to see you! Hope you have been well. I updated the article this AM with the response I received from Google. Apparently there is a technical issue affecting a limited number of accounts and Google is working on it. I still do not see the tools in any of my client accounts that have the Opportunities tab. Glad you see your tools now though. Google must be making progress in correcting the problem.
Take Care!
